Carlos Ortiz won a 10 round decision over Gale Kerwin in a non-title bout.
1952, Coral Gables, Florida:
Danny Nardico TKO’d Jake LaMotta in the 8th round. Lamotta’s corner stopped this fight after LaMotta was down in the 7th. This fight was of course near the end of Hall of Famer LaMotta’s career.

  Yves Ulysse Jr.'s Fight Removed From Jan. 22 Card  
As a preventive measure, Eye of the Tiger Management will be changing the Boxing card presented at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal on January 22nd. After suffering an elbow injury, Yves Ulysse Jr. (20-2-0, 11 K.O.) has been forced to pull out of his bout against Antonio Moran (26-5-1, 19 K.O.) for the NABF super lightweight belt. So, in the first event of the EOTTM 10-year anniversary presented in association with The Queen, Mise-o-jeu and Videotron, Simon Kean (20-1, 19 K.-O.) will be in charge of the co-main event of the evening. The main attraction of this boxing card, broadcast live on Punching Grace, will oppose Arslanbek Makhmudov (13-0-0, 13 K.O.) to Poland's Mariusz Wach (36-7-0, 19 K.O.) for the NABF heavyweight title.

"4-Man Lightweight Tournament"
 
World Cup Boxing Series (WCBS), co-founded by CEO Terry Hollan and matchmaker Guy Taylor, today formally announced its “4-Man Lightweight Tournament,” commencing with the February 24th semifinals in Mexico.

“We’re so happy to see this tournament finally become a reality,” WCBS/matchmaker Guy Taylor said. “It was a lot harder than we had anticipated due to ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions. It seemed like once one country’s ban was lifted, two others were banned. After talking with the CEO, we decided to do an All-Mexico Lightweight Tournament featuring the top available prospects.

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev kept his WBC light heavyweight (175 pounds) championship of the world Friday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, in beating the WBC first contender, the New Yorker Marcus Browne, by TKO in the ninth round. The fight has been stopped after 46 seconds of that round number nine.

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev will defend his WBC light heavyweight (175 pounds) world championship tomorrow night at Bell Centre in Montréal, in fighting the New Yorker Marcus Browne. Beterbiev is undefeated in pro boxing, his record is 16-0-0, and he won all his fights by KO or TKO. Ranked first contender, Browne has a pro record of 24-1-0, 16 wins by KO or TKO.

  Hart Stops Murray In 3  
This past Saturday night, Former two-time world title challenger, Jesse Hart stopped David Murray in round three of their super middleweight turned cruiserweight bout that headlined a nine bout card at the 2300 Arena.

Hart dropped Murray with a short jab in the opening frame. Hart sent Murray to the deck again in round three as he hurt Murray with power shots and followed that up with a hard left hook. Murray was in trouble, and Hart sensed that. Hart jumped on Murray and landed a hard flurry of punches and the fight was stopped at 2:20.

With one well placed and powerful left hook to the liver, Nonito Donaire (42-6, 28 KO’s) stopped the young undefeated Reymart Gaballo (24-1, 20 KO’s) in his tracks. MONTRÉAL - Christian Mbilli, a French fighter who is living in Montréal, Canada, kept his WBC super middleweight (168 pounds) Continental Americas championship Saturday night in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with a win by unanimous decision in 10 rounds against the American Ronald Ellis, from Lynn, Massachusetts. Mbilli, who was aggressive from the beginning to the end, won by decisive scores: 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91.
