Hindsight Is 20/20

By William Trillo

The overwhelming mantra of the media in attendance in Carson, California Saturday night which included yours truly went as follows, and I quote, “I wish I would have gone to Las Vegas.”

The reason was simple. The entire card in Carson basically fell apart at the seams days before the scheduled event. The fights that were salvaged were far from stellar. In the meantime the “Sin City” card was full of thrills and spills o’plenty.

You have to wonder if Ryan Garcia is regretting not taking the last minute replacement fight with Romero Duno now. Duno was far from the fighter who destroyed “Chimpa” a while back. Had Garcia taken on the Duno we saw Saturday night he might have had a chance to eek out a victory. But as we know Garcia didn’t want to risk it. That may have been a poor decision on his, or someone’s part.

That being said, that shirt Duno was sporting after the fight was pretty darn sweet. I need to find out how to order a couple of those.

On the undercard Maricela Cornejo got her rematch against Franchon Crews Dezurn. The question here is, why?

Jaime Munguia beat some guy who had no business being in the ring.

I repeat, “I wish I would have gone to Las Vegas.”
