Cotto Makes Bailey Quit

WBO Super Lightweight Title holder Miguel Cotto (21-0,
17 KO's) was supposed to get a real test from former
title holder Randall Bailey (28-4, 27 KO's) in this one,
and after the first round, with 2 judges scoring it in
favor of Bailey, it looked as though Cotto was in for a
tough night, he caught a few good shots and who knew
what else the KO artist might have in store for him.
Cotto was quick to answer those questions in round 2,
sending Bailey to the mat with a nice overhand right.
Over the next few rounds, Cotto methodically broke
Bailey down with an attack to the head and body that was
more than Bailey could bear. Cut in round three, and
hurt many times, Bailey took on the look of a defeated
fighter.
In round 6, Cotto opened another cut over Bailey's eye
that needed to be looked at by the attending physician.
It appeared that the doctor was going to clear the
fighter to fight on, but having had enough, Bailey
looked up and said to the doc, "I can't see!" End of
discussion, end of fight! Cotto solidifies his spot as
one of the best young fighters in any division, and
Bailey will look to reassess his career after this
humbling defeat.
