Samuel Peter vs. Robert Hawkins Teleconference

By Luis "The Beast" Cadiz

On Thursday, December 15th, Samuel "The Nigerian Nightmare" Peter (24-1, 21 KOs) will be looking to finish off the year on the winning track again. After his decision loss to Wladimir Klitschko this past September in Boardwalk Hall Atlantic City, he wants to erase his own personal nightmare from his mind by jumping back into action. Peter shouldn't be so worried what people think of him though, after all, he did drop Wladimir several times in that fight and he did win the respect and admiration of all those present that night. But "The Nigerian Nightmare" is on a mission to literally pound his way back into the #1 spot in the heavyweight division and during the teleconference he was bold enough to say that, "... I'm not going to let the judges determine the outcome of my fights, my fists will dictate the outcome..."

Here's what else he had on his mind:

Even though it's water under the bridge, what do you consider was the main reason for you not being to K.O. a fighter that was, at times, practically out on his feet? After all, you are a devastating puncher.

He was groggy as hell... but it was the grabbing, the constant grabbing that saved him. Then he would move his head over the ropes and other tactics such as these and the referee didn't do anything about it. But I would really have to say that he didn't fight... but he grabbed alot.

Dino Duva mentioned a few names of boxers on the list for next year and one of them was Shannon Briggs. He fought this past weekend here in Puerto Rico and demolished an up and coming fighter (Luciano Zolyone) in 16 seconds. Will you be looking for veteran fighters such as Briggs to get ahead in the division?

I duck no boxer. If you get into the ring, there will be a fight.

And of the champions: Rahman, Ruiz, Byrd or Brewster?

As I said before, I duck no one... not even them.

Well, as we used to say when we were kids in school, "Those sound like fighting words to me!" Robert Hawkins (21-4, 7 KOs) is the first one on the "nightmarish" list of victims for Peter, starting tomorrow. Let's see how many other heavyweights will be having nightmares after Sam Peter's performance tomorrow. Dread the thought that he will be after one of them in 2006.
