Wright Wins Unanimously Over
Soliman In Surprisingly Good Fight

It wasn't fight of the year, but it sure was entertaining
and action filled, as Winky Wright, now 50-3 with 25 KO's,
and Sam Soliman went to battle through 12 heated rounds that
ended in a unanimous decision for Wright.
In round 1, Soliman came out with his unusual style,
punching from all angles and often. He was non-stop and it
appeared that he could not keep that pace up for long, but
that proved to be wrong down the long stretch. He did land
some good shots on Wright and appeared to set him off pace
for the moment.
In round 2 Wright began to find the body of Soliman with
both the left and right hooks. Wrights left hand to the head
began to land as well, snapping Soliman's head back.
In round 3, Wright began to get comfortable as the pesky
Soliman, despite being more active and never stopping for
more than a few seconds, was getting picked apart by Wright.
Wright began to put on a shut out over the next few rounds,
however Soliman was very much in the fight, throwing an
overwhelming amount of punches that made Wright work for
what was his.
In round 6 the two went back and forth in a very good and
close round.
In round 7 Wright again found the body and began to hurt
Solmian who began to bend over from the big shots. In round
8 a huge right hand from Wright staggered Soliman and if
thrown by anyone else probably would have dropped him, but
Wright just lacks the power to knock anyone out with them.
In round 10 Wright had a huge round as Soliman staggered
once again, this time from a left hand. Soliman with is back
to the ropes began to get punished by Wright's onslaught of
punches. It looked like Wright was about to drop Soliman,
but the ropes held him up and Winky tired in last last few
seconds remaining of the round.
In round 11 the two again went toe to toe in a very good
close round.
Then in the 12th and final round, probably one of the best
rounds Winky Wright has ever been involved in as he and Sam
Soliman went toe to toe and blow for blow throughout the
entire round. A very close round, but equally entertaining
as well.
It appeared after the fight was over that Wright had won the
fight fairly easy, but he had to work hard for what was his
for once. Sam Soliman had won the crowd over as the crowd
cheered for him as he raised his arms when the fight was
over. Once the scores of 115-112, 117-110 and 115-113 read
unanimously for Wright, the crowd booed.
Sam Soliman, falling to 31-8 with 12 KO's, felt very
strongly that he had won the fight and said that the crowds
cheers for him should decide who won the fight, however out
of his 1,260 punches thrown throughout the fight, only 14%
landed.
