Alfonso Gomez Vowed Not To Be
Underestimated
By Francisco Guzman
Considered to be the best welterweight in the world undefeated WBA world champion from Caguas, Puerto Rico Miguel Cotto (31-0-25 KO’s) will face off against Alfonso Gomez (18-3-2-8 KO’s) from the contender reality show. Yesterday both fighters held a press conference at the Hotel Gansevoort in New York City to announce their bout which will take place April 12 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Alfonso vowed not to be underestimated “I have been preparing for this fight for 17 years. I visualize myself standing on a podium talking to the media. My trials and tribulations only call for me to fight the best welterweight and that’s Miguel Cotto. Hopefully he comes well prepared because I am going to be 100% ready for this fight. Mexico and Alfonso Gomez will be champion come April 12th”.
Miguel pretty much stated that he always comes prepared for all his opponents “I don’t care if I am the favorite fighter or not, all my fights are important. I hope Alfonso comes in well prepared b because I am going to be more than 100 percent ready for this fight”.
IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron was also there for his rematch against the man who handed him his first loss former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. Cintron sounded bitter over his criticism of his fight against Jesse Feliciano. “I have been waiting for this fight for a long time. I am excited. When April 12th comes and I am facing Margarito and I avenge my loss. I can say on national television to everybody who has criticized me. I can say shut up to everyone in the boxing world who has criticized me".
Antonio Margarito was not able to attend the event. |
