Holiday Treats Contest Winner
In A Whopping Unanimous Decision:
No One Wants To See Calzaghe vs. Jones Ever Again

By William Trillo

Last week we told you that HBO was planning on airing rebroadcasts of big 2008 fights over the holidays and we also suggested one of the fights needed to be dumped and/or replaced. The fights were:

Which one of these 2008 fights that will be rebroadcast by HBO is a lump of coal and not a holiday gift?

1. Saturday, Dec. 27 at 11:00 pm  -  Miguel Cotto vs. Antonio Margarito

2. Saturday, Dec. 27 at 12:00 am  -  Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Manny Pacquiao II

3. Sunday, Dec. 28 at  11:00 pm  -    Kelly Pavlik vs. Bernard Hopkins

4. Monday, Dec. 29 at 11:00 pm  -    Joe Calzaghe vs. Roy Jones Jr.

5. Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 11:00 pm  -   Oscar de la Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao

We asked our readers to figure out which fight was the lump of coal and tell us which HBO televised 2008 fight you would like to add to the list.

In a remarkable hands down favorite 100% of our fans sent in that Joe vs. Roy was a true stinker and was not fit for anyone's holiday fare. And to replace that fight the overwhelming choice was...wait...let's let our letter from the winner explain it to you.

Take it away losernumber27:

Joe Calzaghe vs. Roy Jones Jr. was a lump of coal and a lump of crap all wrapped into one dirty little package and certainly should not be on that list.  I was bored watching it live after about the 2nd round, I'm not sure why HBO would subject its viewers to seeing it yet again.  There weren't a lot of other standout fights on HBO this year, but Joel Casamayor vs Juan Manuel Marquez was decent enough to replay, certainly deserving of Calzaghe v. Jones spot on that list if nothing else.

Couldn't have said it better ourselves. Thanks to everyone for chiming in.

We will be contacting the winner to send him his prize!  Happy Holidaze!
