Don Felix Trinidad
States,
"There Is No Fight For
Tito On The Calendar"
By William Trillo Contrary to reports flying around the Internet yesterday, a proposed fight with Jermain Taylor is not in the works and the fact of the matter is Don Felix Trinidad, who guides his son's career, has not even spoke to Tito about the match.
In an interview in Puerto Rico's
newspaper El Nuevo Dia, Don Felix stated, "As of last night
I have not yet spoke to my son, but I will talk to him in
the coming days, but as of now, there is no truth to
it." Going on to explain, Papa Trinidad said, "What there is
out there is what Don King said to the press."
It appears what happened is that
Trinidad's advisor and lawyer, Nicolas Medina and Pepe
Ramos met with King in a hotel where the promoter did tell
them of 2 dates Jermain Taylor had secured with HBO,
September 27 and October 4, and if Tito were to accept he
could fight the former middleweight champ on either date.
It may seemed far fetched to expect 2
fighters who have both lost their last two fights to draw
flies, but you throw Tito Trinidad into the mix along with
Don King and a hot New York promotion and it just may have
enough steam to make it worth while for all parties
concerned.
Stay tuned for more on this one, but as
of right know, it hasn't even been officially discussed with
Tito Trinidad himself...period.
