Las Vegas Fights At Orleans

By Oliver Smith
Friday night fights at The Orleans was back last Friday and this was how the evenings events unfolded.

The main event of the evening saw Cruiserweight Patrick Liles ( 8(7)-1-1 ) take on Victor Barragan ( 9-4-0 ). Liles was the clear favorite in this fight but it would turn out to be a sour night for the unbeaten Liles as Barragan outfought and overpowered him. The fight went the distance and Liles somehow hung on to last the full six rounds but there was not a single fan in the Orleans that would have given the fight to him. Judges scored it 57-57, 58-56. Barragan won by split decision.

The most interesting bout of the evening was that of former Heavyweight champ of the world Oliver McCall's son, Elijah McCall ( 2-0 ) who punished the huge Yohan Banks ( 2-2-1 ) inside the first round. McCall clearly has all the potential in the world and looked to have some awesome punching power. He put the much bigger Banks on the floor twice before the referee stopped the fight. Oliver McCall got in the ring after the fight and called out the Klitschko brothers. Maybe a little to early for that yet though, although not a surprising admission from the ever emotional McCall.

Heres the nights other results:

Demark Scott 2(1)-2-1 beat Caleb Caldwell 1(1)-4-1 by Unanimous decision.
Issac Hidalgo 2-2-0 vs Brian Battease 3-1-0 was declared a draw.
Henry Namauu 3-2-0 battled his way to a TKO victory over Eric Bozan (1-2-0 ) in the 4th round after relentless pressure.
