Hatton: My Advantage Is Going To Be My Strength

Report & Photos By Oliver Smith

One day after Manny Pacquiao held his open media workout his foe Ricky "The Hit Man" Hatton held his own workout in front of the Las Vegas media.

On hand was Top Rank's Lee Samuels who presented Hatton's trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr with a Second Place gift from Freddie Roach.

When they opened the gift they found T-shirt from Freddie Roaches weight loss program along with some weight loss pills.

Floyd Sr. took a pen and wrote "Too Late" on the T-shirt. Ricky laughed and said, "Too late? I could have made weight three weeks ago!!!

Before the workout Hatton gave up some pearls of wisdom in regard to his upcoming May 2nd bout at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"I think my advantage is going to be my strength... look at Marquez and what he did with Manny, I think I can do the same."

"I'm a different fighter since I have been training with Floyd Sr. You could see glimpses of it against Malignaggi. I've been moving my head a lot more and I think I'm starting to fulfil my potential that I have shown glimpses of in previous fights."

"I still see Manny as the smaller guy even after he stepped up TO 147 against De La Hoya. I still think I am the stronger fighter."

"I could have made the weight three weeks ago!"

Presented by Rockstar Energy Drink and promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, in association with MP Promotions and Hatton Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and Southwest Airlines. Pacquiao vs. Hatton, a 12-round junior welterweight world championship battle, will take place Saturday, May 2 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev.
