Lacy Passes Griffin

In a light heavyweight battle between Jeff “Left hook” Lacy (25-2, 17 KO’s) took on Otis “Triple OG” Griffin (19-5-2, 7 KO’s) at the UFC Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida in front of 3,500 on hand to support Lacy’s “Homecoming” card. In was a case of Jeff “Right Hook” Lacy all night long. Griffin was gain to hold his own and press the action to Lacy all night.

Lacy did not wait on Griffin starting off with good combinations and flurries of punches throughout the fight, Griffin not to be taken lightly attacked back countering Lacy’s power shots blow by blow. Judges scored a Majority decision for Lacy 95-95, 96-94, 97-93.

Lacy showing slight reaction after the last round with an un-insurance of the victory went over to the ropes to address light heavyweight legend Roy Jones, Jr. in a attempt to get it on. On the other hand Griffin responds. “Hey you all saw the fight, his chin was up in the air throughout the fight. In fact I feel I deserve a shot at Roy”.


Heavyweight sensation Lenroy “TNT” Thomas went (11-2, 8 KO’s) by stopping Wes Taylor (7-13-1, 7 KO’s) quickly in the first by dropping him with a right shot to the body that drops Taylor who immediately retreated in round two, and could not weather the pressure from Thomas, Referee Frankie Gentile jumps in to save Taylor at 1:16 of the 2nd round.


Undercard Action

Super Middleweights Roberto Failey took a split decision from Tampa’s Adam Jaco in four rounds.

Jr. lightweights Kermit ‘Bazooka” Gonzalez fights to a draw against tuff slugger Derrick Wilson who took all his chances and appeared to be more impressive in the fight.

Welterweights Danie “The white lion” Staden starts off banging dropping Henry Mitchell twice in the first round of action with two hard right hooks that floored Mitchell, It was Staden pressing the action the first two rounds of the fight. Mitchell making his case in the 3rd and 4th coming out willingly strong moving side too side presenting problems for the tiring Staden. All tree judges had it 38-36 for Staden.

Said “The messenger” Harrak made a living with his right hand tonight by out classing Darnell “Price” Jones for the unanimous decision 40-36 on all judges cards.

Featherweights Adwairky Lopez dominates against Caitin Dance 40-36 in the unanimous decision in their rematch.
