Hollywood Las Vegas - Miguel Vasquez (24-3-12KOs) was a
last minute replacement for Ray Narh Vs Breidis Prescott
( 21-1-18 KOs), and he seized the moment as he awkwardly
out pointed Prescott to score a 10 round split decision
Prescott was previously undefeated and has a couple of
notable names on his hit-list, one being newly crowned
WBA light-welterweight champion, Amir Khan.
However, it wasn’t to be his night as Vasquez used great
counter punching and good movement to avoid the bombs
that KO’d Khan, and slithered his way to victory.
The win was a split decision, with one judge
inexplicably scoring it 97-92 for Prescott and the two
others 95-94 and 96-93 for Vasquez.
In the other notable fight of the evening, Erislandy
Lara (7-0, 4 KOs) took a 6 round decision over well
traveled veteran fighter Darnell Boone (16-12-2, 6 Kos).
Boone made for an awkward fight and gave Lara a good
test. Judges scored the fight 60-54, 60-54 and 59-55 all
in favor of Lara.
Hot prospect Guillermo Rigondeaux (2-0, 2 KOs)
devastated Robert Guillen (4-3-2, 0 KOs) with a wicked
liver shot that had Guillen rolling on the canvas in
serious pain resulting in a second round KO victory for
Rigondeaux who continues to impress.
