Lemieux Makes Quick Work Of Smichet
Lucas vs. Andrade Quebec City Bout Update

By Daniel Cloutier

Montreal's David Lemieux (22-0-0, 21 K.-0) stopped Walid Smichet from St-Eustache, Quebec at the 57 second mark of the second round in a Canadian Super Middleweight Championship battle. Smichet lost last year by K.O. in the seventh round against Peter Manfredo Jr. in Montreal, but gained much respect in 2007 at Madison Square Garden in New York, in coming close to upsetting Irish John Duddy who, at that time, was the number six contender of the WBA.

Pedro Diaz, who developed 28 Olympic champions for Fidel Castro, believes that Lemieux will become an international super star. Diaz supervises the physical condition of Lemieux.

Even though the IBF Super Middle title eliminator between Jesse Brinkley & Sakio Bika is all but set for the Pepsi Coliseum the already made Eric Lucas vs.Librado Andrade fight will still be the main event as it will garner most of the Quebec boxing fans support. Jean Bédard, the boss of InterBox, hopes that ESPN will televise the show but nothing is confirmed yet. If it is the case, Bika vs. Brinkley would logically be the semi-final of the evening.
