Conference

“He’s powerful. He’s
fast. He’s handsome. And now, we’re going to get paid
handsomely,” mused promoter Lou DiBella of his marquee
attraction, middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. In
Las Vegas for the Marquez-Katsidis lightweight
championship, DiBella held a press conference before the
assembled media to share his plans for Martinez. “We’re
not going to beg anyone for a fight. We’re not going to
call anyone out. We’re going to expose Sergio Martinez
on HBO as the star that he is. We’ll fight anybody.”
DiBella looped Martinez’
one punch knockout of Paul Williams and played it
continuously on two large monitors he placed on the
podium. Through manager Sampson Lewkowicz, Martinez
humbly described the action. “He made a mistake and I
threw the punch I had been working hard on in training.”
Though there are no
specific plans for the middleweight champion, it is
clear Martinez is ready and willing to fight all comers
from 154-160 lbs.
