Rivera vs. Serrano Bad Blood Face Off

By Damon “LatinBox” Gonzalez

Tampa, Fl. – A local rivalry of featherweights Carlos “El Rayo” Rivera (16-6-2, 5 KOs) and Charlie Serrano (9-2-0, 2 KOs) battle it out on Friday at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. Serrano has been hungry for the chance to face Rivera since he was in the amateurs. What Serrano must do too capitalize against the veteran Carlos Rivera, Serrano cannot wait on Rivera to press the action, Serrano can pressure quickly with setting up the body shots and take advantage of a key weakness of Rivera.

Rivera has been dropped in his last few fights by body punches, In order for Rivera to control the pace of the fight he must take a step back and let the smaller Serrano come to him, Rivera cannot miss a beat in order to be successful, He needs to turn his punches over and not slap punches.

Serrano has nothing too loose he has to go after Rivera and add pressure every round by closing the gap, It is a bit of a step up for Serrano he needs to control the pace and use a lot of his right hooks that have been really effective in his last two wins, He can go the distance with Rivera if he is the more behaved and disciplined fighter.

Rivera with his extra size can take advantage of Serrano with power shots but he needs to be on, He has to open up on Serrano and not hold back any punches, However Serrano waiting for a moment like this if he sets his feet when he punches he campaigns to be the quicker fighter in this fight, he will clearly have the advantage in the inside and win the fight on points.

The “Cowgirl” Jenna Shiver (12-4-1, 2 KOs) fan favorite looks to head on against Chicago’s Evette Collazo (4-0, 2 KO’s), and Tampa’s Ali Tareh (9-7-4, 4 KOs), undefeated Daniel Lozano (5-0-0, 4 KOs), and St. Petersburg’s undefeated Gino McClellan(3-0-0, 0 KOs).

Doors open at 7:00 pm, with the first punch landing at 8:00 pm.
