In a fight that was for the WBO NABO Super Middleweight title Renan St-Juste (22-2-1 15 KO) defeated Sebastian Demers (31-4 11 KO) by K.O. at 54 seconds of the second round. St-Juste was all over Demers from the start and in the second 2 pinpoint straight left hands from the southpaw laid Demers out cold.

After the fight Renan told me, “I expected that Demers would be aggressive in the first round. I was expecting that he would use is jabs and power punches, but I did nothing. I was moving in the ring, and not throwing punches. When I got him with my first power shot of the fight, I saw his face changes. I knew then that I was in control of the situation. I did not expect such a short bout, but I knew that Demers will finish the fight on his butt.”

"I worked harder than never for this bout, and I feel strong in the super middleweight division,” Renan said. “Every good local fighter, Jean Pascal, Lucian Bute, Adrian Diaconu, Olivier Lontchi, Herman Ngoudjo, Benoit Gaudet and Demers got their chance for a major world title, and I want mine. I am 38 years old, you will tell me that it is too late for me, but it is false. I think that I will have in 2011 the best fights of my career. I am not only a strong puncher, my hands are very fast. I am supposed to be ranked in the Top 15 in the WBO ranking, because it was a NABO North American title, then, I want my chance for a world title before the end of the next year.”

Demers did not show up for the press conference.

Frankly speaking, the fight between Middleweight star David Lemieux (25-0,24 KO) vs. Purnell Gates (22-2-1 15 KO) was horrible. Gates was dancing, and after a minute he complained that he had a broken hand. The fight was stopped in the second when Gates took a knee and then begged to fight on. The ref had no part of that and stopped the fight.

Gates went in a Montreal Hospital to get a X-Rays.

Lemieux said, “He did not try to challenge me, what can I do? I will take a rest for Christmas and the New Year through January; I will start to work with Marc Ramsay and Pedro Diaz to prepare myself to fight the Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio. This WBC Middleweight elimination bout will be in April.”

GYM Promoter Yvon Michel said, “Since yesterday, we have had serious discussions with the Rubio group, and I am more confident now about our chances to get the fight in Montreal April 8th.”

If there no agreement, the WBC will hold a purse bid January 7th. The winner of the Lemiuex vs. Rubio fight will be in line to face Champion Sergio Martinez as his mandatory obligation.
