Ward Struggles To Defeat Bika
Lucky For Andre He Was At Home...Again
By William Trillo
WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (23-0, 13 KO's)
took a hometown unanimous decision over Sakio Bika (28-5-2,
19 KO's) on Saturday night in the comfort of his backyard
Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The obviously hometown
scores read 120-108, 118-110, 118-110. In all honesty, Ward
won the fight but scores of 116-114, like my scorecard read,
are a much better indication of the night. Even if Bika had
dropped Ward in the last 2 rounds the biased scoring would
have still given Ward the edge. Press row scoring on
Showtime was just as bad, but what do you expect from two
know nothings and a long time Bay Area Hack?
Bika posed a huge problem for Ward and early on Andre was
being put to the test. When he went to his signature holding
Bika was blasting him with his off arm, and in a turnabout
is fair play scenario, Ward was the victim of numerous head
clashes. The butts were all unintentional but Ward cried to
the ref every chance he got to piss and moan about the
fouls. Funny how differently he sees things when the shoe is
on the other foot...or is that, butt is on the other head?
Ward sucked it up, prevailed and kept his title and The
Super Six semi-final round is next. I am guessing he will be
coddled again and allowed to have the fight in Oakland.
If we learned anything tonight it's that when faced with a
man that is a physical inside fighter, Andre has huge
problems....Enter Glen Johnson, better known as The Road
Warrior.
If S.O.B. or S.O.G. (whatever his name is) thinks Johnson is
going to be intimidated by anything Ward has to offer he has
another thing coming. And if Andre thinks fighting in the
comfort of his crib (take term literally) in Oakland will
help ease his pain then he better grab his pacifier and
think again. Hey Oakland, you don't have to like Johnson and
he is not looking for your approval. He is coming to your
town to put a beatdown on your boy and leave with his title.
A lot of you Raider fans should be familiar with that
scenario, it happens to you all the time.
Let me be the first to say that if and when Ward meets
Johnson it will be more than he can handle and
The Road Warrior will beat the cheat out of S.O.G.
