  Tearful Celebration As
Bute Demolishes Mendy In 4

By Bill Cenan @ Ringside

Tears of joy streamed down the face of IBF Super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (29-0, 24 KOís) as he defeated his mandatory challenger Jean Paul Mendy (29-1-0,16 KOís) in a dominant performance in front of Buteís hometown Romanian fans. Bute had no trouble with Mendy at all and was relaxed and patient in the ring all night, he was scoring at will. Bute landed some sharp uppercuts in the early going and it was a left uppercut that really hurt Mendy in round 3 that was the beginning of the end. Mendy survived that round and it looked like he may get out of round 4 alive when Bute landed a swift right/left combo that sent Mendy down in his face. The left hand came over the top and landed flush on Mendyís chin, he didnít see that punch coming and it spelled doom for the Frenchman.

With the impressive win Bute has once again proven he sits firmly on top of the 168 pound division and Super Six or not, the road to the top of the Super Middleweight division clearly runs through Montreal by way of Romania.
