Sebastien Demers On Allan Green

On November 5th, 2011, Sebastien "Double Trouble" Demers (
31-4-0, 11 KO’s ) will face none other then super
middleweight contender and super-six participant, Allan
Green ( 30-3-0, 21 KO’s ). From 2004 to 2010, Demers was one
of the most promising stars on Canadian soil, scoring
notables victories over Mamadou Thiam, Ian MacKillop, Walid
Smichet and former 3 times WBA middleweight champion William
Joppy. That was until two crushing defeats at the hands of
Brian Vera and Renan St-Juste.
Allan Green as been a very hot prospect himself . Nicknamed
‘’Ghost Dog’’, he also possesses significant victories over
Rubin Williams, Tarvis Simms, Carlos DeLeon Jr and former
WBA light middleweight champion Carl Daniels. Much like
Demers, Green had two devastating defeats at the hands of
WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward and the road
warrior Glen Johnson.
Like a true warrior, Demers is back and wants to establish
himself as a worthy contender, just like Green. Both of them
cannot afford to lose this fight.
Only two weeks before this bout on the undercard of
Bute-Johnson, Sebastien Demers shared with us his thoughts
about is comeback and Allan Green.
Jeff Emond Jeffrey: Good afternoon Sebastien, How are
you?
Sebastien Demers: Very good and I’ll be ready for Green.
JEJ: Very soon your gonna face Allan Green. Any
comments?
SD: It’s a huge opportunity for me to face an opponent
like Allan Green and I’m very happy about it. He’s been a
title contender himself and was in the Super-Six, so I will
leave nothing to chance.
JEJ: You were supposed to fight Andre Dirrell, another
Super-Six contestant this summer. Are you disappointed of
this turn of events?
SD: No, both of them are big names, so I’m grateful to
have a big fight like this at this stage of my career. I’ve
got two defeats I want to erase from people’s memories and
such an important opportunity don’t come easy. It’s my last
time to shine and I will make it count, believe me. I’ll
give it all to win this fight and after that some better
occasions are gonna be possible for me.
JEJ: Speaking of styles, one is a southpaw and the other
orthodox, who would you rather face between Direll and
Green?
SD: I think it’s better for me to battle Green. He might
be a very fast right handed fighter, but he’s not a southpaw
who can switch stance and like Dirrell. I don’t
underestimate Green, because I know that he’s gonna look to
impress in such a big card. I know he’s gonna come forward,
so I won’t have to look for him inside the ring.
JEJ: How will you fight Green?
SD: I will put pressure early in the fight to break his
rhythm and establish mine. I will have to be careful for his
jab since he’s taller than me and moves his head very well.
So I’ll go to the body to break him. I have great confidence
in my training team, Howard and Otis Grant for getting me
ready for November 5th.
JEJ: What have you been working for in the gym for this
bout?
SD: I have been working on my defensive skills, like my
head and upper body movements and also I’m throwing much
more punches in combination.
JEJ: Who did you spar with?
SD: I have been sparring with Adonis Stevenson, Patrick "The
Predator" Coté from the mixed martial arts world and Francy
Ntetu, a tall boxer with a nice jab, much like Green. Like I
said before, it’s a big opportunity for me and I’ll leave
nothing to chance. I’ll be back stronger then ever!
JEJ: A lot of boxing experts in the United States don’t
think you can beat Allan Green. Any comments?
SD: Well I heard a little bit about that, but I won’t
pay any attention to it. I will win in Quebec City, the
crowd support will help me to fight harder than before. This
is very important to me
JEJ: Thank you very much for your time Sebastien and

SD: No problem and it’s gonna be a very exciting fight.
