Jean vs. Lorenzo Montreal
Weigh-In Report

For the first time of his career, the Montrealer Haitian
Dierry Jean will be the star of a pro boxing show in
Montréal, Thursday night at the Bell Center Theater.
Jean (19-0-0), a talented junior welterweight, will fight
the veteran Dominican Francisco Lorenzo (37-10-0) in a 10
rounder. It will be the first show of the new season of the
series "Rapides et Dangereux" (Fast and Dangerous) organized
by the GYM group.
Antonin Décarie (25-1-0), ranked 12th by the WBA in the
welterweight division, was supposed to fight the former
world champion Jose Luis Castillo (62-11-1) in the main
event, but he pulled out Tuesday, suffering of a rib’s
injury. Décarie should fight Castillo December 17th in
Québec City.
"For Dierry Jean, it is a super opportunity", said Mike
Moffa, Jean’s trainer. Lorenzo lost a 12 rounds decision
against the legendary Mexican boxer Erik Morales December
18th 2010 in Tijuana. If Dierry can stay healthy, he should
reach the Top 10 in the world of the super lightweight
division next year.
Jean fought only four times since 2008, because of serious
injuries. He had right elbow surgery in 2009, and he
suffered of a broken jaw last year at his last bout,
November 11 2010, against the Puertorican Wilfredo Negron.
"Dierry is very talented, he is a boxer fast, intelligent
and strong physically, but he has been extremely bad lucky
since two years", said Mike Moffa, Jean’s trainer. We hope
that this fight with Lorenzo will turn the table for him. If
he can stay healthy, he will be an important actor in his
division in 2012 and 2013. Dierry is coming back from a
broken jaw, and he is fighting a tough guy, a fighter who
bas been able to take all the punches gave by dangerous
punchers like Erik Morales and Humberto Soto. No doubt in my
mind that Dierry will have to work hard during 10 complete
rounds tomorrow night. A serious test for him.
Dierry seems very relaxed at 24 hours before this challenge.
"In few hours, I will be involved in the most important
fight of my career", said Jean. "But I am more than
confident. Lorenzo has a lot of experience, he his tough
like hell, but his style is absolutely perfect for mine. He
is short and very mean. As you know, I am always productive
against fighters agressives like him, fighters who likes to
take risks, who likes to open their defense to score points.
I think this fight will be tough, but not too difficult. I
know I have all the weapons to dominate that fight from the
beginning to the end."
At the weigh in, Jean had an official weight of 139.8
pounds, versus 138 for Lorenzo.
