  Renan St-Juste Heading For California
& Anthony Dirrell Showdown

By Daniel Cloutier

Super Middleweight Renan St-Juste will leave Montréal for California on Tuesday morning. On Friday night, at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez in California, St-Juste (23-2-1), a southpaw from Montréal, will fight the American Anthony Dirrell (23-0-0) in a WBC super middleweight elimination bout.

At a press conference at the Interbox gym St-Juste said,"This bout for me is like a real world championship fight. The winner will be ranked as the number one contender for this world title, it is certainly the most important bout of my life. My preparation as been perfect."

Renan was asked if the fact that the fight is in USA, if he feels the obligation to win by KO." I cannot control the judges of the fight, but I can control what will happens in the ring. Dirrell and I are two solid punchers, then, anything can happen anytime when the fight starts. I know how Dirrell reacts in the ring because I had the chance to watch tapes of his previous fights. I am sure that he thinks he has a faster puncher than me, considering I am 39 years old, but he will have some surprises when I hit him. I am 39 years old, it is true, but my hands are faster then ever. When I connect him my power shots I am absolutely sure he will feel them. Don’t be surprised if I floor him a couple of times in the fight. But if the fight goes to the limit, I am not worried. I will have the energy to fight for 12 rounds."

St-Juste was asked if he looks to fight Carl Froch in 2012. "In beating Dirrell, I will become the most important challenger for Froch, but as you know, Carl has a big agenda on the international level. If he wins the "Super Six" he is supposed to fight Lucian Bute. InterBox tried to put me against Kelly Pavlik and Mikkel Kessler this year, and it did not work. I don’t know which big name could be available for me next year. We will see. I got to take care of Dirrell in first."

St-Juste will have his first fight with his new trainer, Pierre Bouchard, Stephan Larouche’s assistant.
