Jean Looks For
A Clear Win, Poulard Looks For A KO

MONTRÉAL ---- The Montrealer boxers Dierry Jean and
Nicholson Poulard are very determined to become North
American champions in the next hours. Saturday evening in
the ring of the Holiday Inn Hotel in Pointe-Claire, in the
West Island of the Montréal island, Jean (21-0-0) will be
involved in the most significant fight of his pro boxing
career, a NABF super lightweight championship bout.
It will be the main event of a boxing show presented by the
promoter Camille Estefan.
Jean will fight Lanardo Tyler (25-7-2), the tough fighter
from Texas who lost by decision to Kevin Bizier (17-0-0)
December 17th in Québec City.
"Tyler is tough guy, I know it, but I am sure I have the
speed and the skills to dominate this fight," said Jean. "A
North American championship is an important step in my
career, and I want absolutely to get a clear and beautiful
win for this precious occasion. My preparation has been
perfect, and I am ready to fight energetically for 12 rounds
if it is necessary."
"Tyler looked at me after the weight in and said,"Jean,
"when the fight will start, you will see the difference
between a minor league fighter and a major league fighter".
My response was,"Yes Tyler, and I know who between you and
me belongs to the major leagues..."
Poulard will try for a second time to become North American
champion. In 2009 in Montréal, he lost a decision against
Sébastien Demers in a NABF super middleweight championship
bout.
Saturday, Poulard (17-3-0), the brother of Jean Pascal, will
face Lionell Thompson (12-0-0), from Buffalo, New York, in a
NABA light heavyweight championship fight.
"This second chance will be the good one for me," said
Poulard. "I probably got the best preparation of my career,
then, I am ready for a war. And it will a war when the fight
will starts. I am planning to hit Thompson very hard in
every round, and we will see for how many rounds he will be
able to resist to this treatment. I really believe in my
chances to win that bout by KO or TKO."
At the weight in, Tyler and Thompson have been obliged to
give 20 p.c. of their purses to their opponents, because
they did not respect the weight mentioned in their
contracts.
Tyler had a weight of 142 pounds, two pounds over, and
Thompson had posted a weight of 176 pounds, one pound over.
In the others fights of the evening, the lightweight
Ghislain Maduma (7-0-0), from Montréal, will face the
Mexican Aldo Valtierra (26-14-0); the super featherweight
Baha Laham (8-4-0), the super welterweight Ahmad Cheiko
(6-4-2), the lightweight Chris Plaitis (pro debut) and the
light heavyweight Schiller Hyppolite (3-0-0), all from
Montréal, will face the Hongarians Arpad Vass (8-4-0),
Laszio Komjathi (43-39-2), Csaba Toth (8-12-0) and Ferenc
Sarkosi (5-4-0). And finally, the lightweight Ibraham Kamal
(7-0-0), from Toronto, will be opposed to Abou Bechelaghem
(7-2-1), from France.
