“I’ll fight Danny Garcia any time, any where,” emphatically said Amir Khan in the post fight interview after capturing the vacant WBC Silver Light Welterweight.

Amir Khan (27-3, 19KOs) stopped Carlos Molina (17-1-1, 7KOs) in front of a boisterous crowd of 6109 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Referee Jack Reiss halted the action and left a valiant Carlos Molina on his stool at the end of ten. Amir’s victory came in the main event of an exciting fight card hosted by Golden Boy Promotions and aired live on Showtime at 10:30pm EST.

Amir Khan began the fight strong, which is customary of him. He used his height and reach advantage to land several speedy combos, which seemed to produce a cut on Molina’s left eye. Khan’s pace ensued into the following round where he landed some flashy combo’s and quickly stepped back in defense. His aggression continued to grow each round.

Amir Khan, 26, punished Molina in round four with a plethora of blows including a left hook to the body followed by a penetrating straight right and also two consecutive uppercuts. He continued to work at a fast pace behind his stiff jab that set up his straight right as seen in round six.

Carlos Molina, 27, landed a few shot here and there. None of the blows caused any real damage. Molina caught Khan coming in with a jab in round two that seemed to unsettle the Bolton fighter but really didn’t. The Norwalk native was reduced and hoping to land one big shot by round six. Khan’s speed was too much.

The Pakistani born fighter slowed his pace a bit in round nine, yet still managed to dominate the round. Carlos Molina unfortunately was showing little opposition to Khan’s combos at this point. The ringside physician attention was squarely on Molina’s health in between rounds eight and nine. Amir Khan dominance continued with great ring generalship while dishing out more punishment in the culminating round.

Referee Jack Reiss walked over to Carlos Molina’s corner at the end of round number ten and told his team that he was stopping the bout. This was after carefully observing Molina’s condition in between the previous two rounds. Khan effort was spirited and effective, but don’t know if he is ready for Danny Garcia.


Deontay Wilder Captures Vacant WBC Continental America Title

Deontay Wilder (26-0, 26KOs) viciously knocked out Kelvin Price (13-1, 6KOs) with a devastating overhand right in the process capturing the WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight Title. Referee Ray Corona stopped the bout 53 seconds into round three after Kelvin Price was unable to make his standing eight count.


Alfredo Angulo Wins Again

Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (22-2, 18KOs) earned a unanimous decision victory against a valiant Jorge Silva (19-3, 15KOs) in a ten round Middleweight barnburner. All three judges scored the fight alike, 97-93 for Alfredo Angulo.

Sparks flew from the outset of the bout. Both fighters landed heavy blows in the first round. Alfredo Angulo swung first only to see Jorge Silva counter with a spirited and crisp left hook. Silva’s aggression didn’t dissuade Angulo who settled into walking down him down, leading his attack behind his stick often following up with an overhand right.

Jorge Silva, 20, came to fight. He challenged Alfredo Angulo in round one and continued to do so throughout. He was getting tagged along the way; albeit, landing some thudding shots himself. The young pugilist landed a crushing looping right hook that backed Angulo in round six. He also connected on a left hook that also sent Angulo retracing his steps in the following assault.

Alfredo Angulo kept moving forward despite Silva’s blows while scoring points in the process as seen in round eight and nine. He went on to completely outwork Silva in the final round falling short of a knockout.


Christopher Pearson Continues To Win

Christopher Pearson (7-0, 6KOs) earned a TKO stoppage against Yosmani Abreu (3-6-1) at the end of round five at the behest of the ringside physician. The bout was originally scheduled for six rounds Middleweight division. Chris Pearson’s stick was active all night. Case in point – Abreu’s badly damaged left eye, which caused the stoppage.


Shawn Porter and Julio Diaz Fight To a Draw

Shawn Porter (20-0-1, 14KOs) and Julio Diaz (40-7-1, 29KOs) fought to a draw in an explosive ten round Welterweight fight. At the final bell, judge Steve Morrow scored the bout 96-94 for Shawn Porter while Marty Denkin scored the bout 96-94 for Julio Diaz. The remaining Judge Barry Druxman called it a draw with a score of 95-95.

Shawn Porter kicked off the action with a blazing combo that got the veterans attention. On the other hand, it was clear that Julio Diaz wanted to catch porter coming in with a left hook. Diaz strategy did not panned out for the first three rounds as Porter beat him to the punch every time.

Julio Diaz, 32, then began to get off first in round number four finding tremendous success with his left while also connecting on a right hook. Diaz’s willingness to let loose first sparked a classic round four where Porter also found success. The fight turned into a highly competitive affair moving forward.

Shawn Porters quickness continued to play an chief roll in the fight. Juilo Diaz’s answered by brazenly following him around the ring, landing some vicious blows which consisted of left and right hooks as porter backed up. The latter was vivid at the end of round eight and throughout round nine. The fight was extremely close going into the final round and it was fought like the rounds it preceded. Porter jumped on Julio with a blazing combo; however, Julio Diaz found ways to land some very damaging blows.


Frankie Gomez KO’s Foe In Round One

Frankie Gomez (13-0, 10Kos) Knocked Out Pavel Miranda (17-9, 8Kos) 48 seconds into round number one with a perfectly timed left hook. The Welterweight scrap was originally scheduled for eight rounds.


Hugo Centeno Jr. Stops Allen Conyers

Hugo Centeno Jr. (17-0, 9) stopped Allen Conyers (12-8, 9Kos) after six rounds of action in the light middleweight division. Conyers was left sitting on his stool at the request of his corner.
