Lightweight Michael Katsidis (28-5,23 KO’s ) & Albert Mensah (24-3-1,10 KO’s) capped off the night in Las Vegas with a show that will go down as a heart filled classic. Katsidis ever the warrior was relentless and Mensah was just as willing to oblige as he landed time after time on the never say die Katsidis. The fight was a thriller and ESPN again put on another great Friday night show.

It took a little longer than usual to tally up the scores which usually spells trouble and there was some displeasure with the majority decision score that went to Mensah. One judge scored the fight even but scores of 96-94 and 98-92 in favor of Mensah secured a very hard victory for the fighter from Ghana.

Katsidis was all action throughout the night but his shots did not seem to get the judges attention. On the other hand Mensah ‘s blows were attention grabbers and that definitely is what swayed the judges.

Either way it was a fantastic performance by both fighters and Pound4Pound gives the seal of approval to both of them.
 

Welterweight Artemio Reyes (15-2, 12 KO’s) was stunned and KO’d by Alan Sanchez (10-2-1, 3 KO’s) in the first round of a fight that saw everyone pulling for Reyes. Artemio, who just lost his Father this week, was fighting this one for the memory of his “Pops”.

It was a noble cause but Sanchez did not let the moment get the best of him and he stole the moment with a barrage of punches that destroyed Artemio at the 2:08 mark of round 1.
 

Light welterweights Yosmani Abreu (2-2-1) & Brent Rodriguez (1-3-2,1KO) fought to a lack luster split decision draw.
 

Light welterweight Tyler Lawson (0-2-1) fought his heart out but he could not overcome the determination of Cameron Kreal (1-1-2) who chalked up his first professional win.
 

Featherweight Alexis Hernandez (1-1) took a unanimous decision over Sergio Lopez who was making his pro debut. Lopez was down twice during the four round affair.
 

Light flyweights Edwin Reyes and Yosigey Ramirez received a standing ovation from the crowd after they gave everything over 4 rounds of hard fought boxing. The men making their pro debuts will have to fight another day to put one in the win column though as the fight was scored 38-38…a draw.
 

Light welterweights Luis Monda & Richard Quesada were making their pro debuts in the opening bout when Quesada landed a body shot 50 seconds into the fight and that was all it took. Monda was unable to get up and the fight was stopped.
