Pascal Should Be Able To Fight
Dawson In March

MONTRÉAL - The Dr. Francis Fontaine has confirmed that Jean
Pascal has damage to the left shoulder, but the Montréal
fighter should be able to fight the WBC light heavyweight
champion of the world, Chad Dawson (31-2-0), at the end of
March.
An MRI test showed that Pascal (27-2-1) is suffering from
tendon tears and damage to the muscle of the rotator
cuff. Pascal will be back in training next week, but he will
probably wait a month before use his left arm in the gym.
His shoulder will receive intense treatments during the next
weeks.
“We will accelerate the recovery with special treatments,”
said the Dr. Fontaine. “I really believe he will able to hit
with his left shoulder in training in about a month.”
Friday evening in the ring of the Bell Centre, Pascal, the
former WBC champion, injured his left shoulder in the fourth
round of his win by unanimous decision (10 rounds) against
the Polish Aleksy Kuziemski (20-4-0).From the fifth round,
Pascal was using strictly is right hand. Pascal said he felt
some stiffness in his shoulder in the second round, and the
pain became extremely severe in the fourth.
“My left arm stuck in the ropes in the fourth round, and
from that moment, the pain became unbearable,” said Pascal.
“When I passed the MRI Monday, I was scared to learn that I
would need a surgery, but thanks God, it is not the case.”
Pascal was fighting for the first time in 19 months. He was
supposed to fight the IBF champion of the world, Tavoris
Cloud (24-0-0), August 11th in Montréal, but the fight has
been cancelled in July, when the Montrealer got a serious
injury to the right hand (bone contusion) in training.
Monday evening, Pascal said that after Dawson, he would love
to fight Cloud and the Montrealer Lucian Bute (30-1-0), the
former IBF super middleweight champion of the world.
“Apparently, several of Bute's fans were frustrated Monday
(reactions of Facebook) when I mentioned Lucian's name as
eventual opponent, and I am wondering why,” said Pascal. “It
is not my fault if a lot of Québec boxing fans are dreaming
to see a fight between us. We are two locals. If the
population wants so much a mega fight between Lucian and me,
why not do it?”
