Bute-Pavlik Or Bute-Abraham?

MONTRÉAL - With the cancellation of the WBA and WBC super
middleweight world championship fight between Andre Ward and
Kelly Pavlik, the Montréal promoter Jean Bédard is seeing
more possibilities for the next Lucian Bute's fight.
Thursday, Bédard got a had conversation with Cameron Duncan,
Pavlik's negotiator, and apparently, he is talking also with
to the German promoter Wilfred Sauerland, who is managing
Arthur Abraham's (36-3-0) career.
In an interview, Bédard said, “Ed Hearn, Carl Froch's
promoter, told us he has intense negotiations in hoping to
finalize a deal for a rematch between Froch and Mikkel
Kessler. If Froch is fighting Kessler next spring, Pavlik
(or Abraham) could be an interesting option for Lucian.”
IBF champion, Froch (30-2-0), who beat Bute (31-1-0) by TKO
in less than five rounds May 26th in Nottingham, England,
was expecting to give a rematch to Bute March 23rd at Bell
Centre in Montréal.
However, at the beginning of December, when InterBox
mentioned that Bute could fight the Dominican Edwin
Rodriguez (22-0-0) before get the rematch with Froch, Ed
Hearn started negotiations for a rematch between Froch and
Kessler.
According severals European boxing writers, a rematch
Froch-Kessler is very close to be confirmed. In 2010,
Kessler (46-2-0) beat Froch by unanimous decision in
Danemark, in the Showtime Super Six tournament. Pavlik
(40-2-0) was preparing himself for a fight with Ward
(26-0-0) scheduled for March, but Thursday, Ward as
confirmed he will need a a shoulder's surgery and probably a
long rest.
