David price remains unbeaten (now 15-0, 13 KOs) after retaining his British and Commonwealth titles with a second round stoppage of Matt Skelton (now 28-7, 23 KO’s).

After his previous outing lasted less than a minute price was hoping Skelton would provide a stiffer challenge. This challenge lasted for all of one round as price started slow and was under pressure from the 1st bell. The aggressive Skelton looked to make an impression on price and even looked to have him hurt as he marched forward, although Price did have a little success late in the round.

Price showed his class however in the next round as he took control and started to make use of his jab. He caught Skelton on the way in with a thudding right hand which seemed to have sapped all his ambition. He then landed a string of impressive shots to back Skelton up to the ropes. Price continued to pile on the pressure and stunned Skelton with a devastating body shot. He followed up with a barrage of left and rights to the body which dropped Skelton and the fight was over as he was unable to beat the referees count. Skelton’s corner had also seen he was out of his depth and had thrown in the towel before the referee had begun his count.

Some will doubt the credentials of Price’s last 2 opponents but he continues to dispose of them with ease and must now step up in class to prove he has the quality to fight at world level.
