Stevenson Injured, Bout With George Postponed

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the GYM Group, Yvon Michel,
confirmed that the fight between the Montrealer Adonis
Stevenson (18-1-0) and the American Donovan George (22-2-1)
scheduled for August 17th at the Buffalo Run Casino in
Miami, Oklahoma, has been cancelled. Stevenson got a hand
injury in training Sunday afternoon in sparring. Stevenson
has no fracture, but a serious contusion. His doctor
believes that a rest of 10 days will be absolutely
necessary.
"Adonis should be able to come back in training in a couple
of weeks," said Yvon Michel. We will present the fight in
October, at Bell Centre in Montréal, in a boxing show of our
series "Rapides et Dangereux" (Fast and Dangerous)."
ESPN should televise this elimination bout for the position
number one in the IBF super middleweight championship of the
world. The winner of this bout will face the IBF champion,
the British Carl Froch (29-2-0) in 2013... if Froch keeps
the crown.
Froch will give a rematch to the Montrealer Lucian Bute
(30-1-0) March 16th or March 23rd in Montréal. On May 26 the
in Nottingham, England, Froch won the IBF crown, in beating
Bute by TKO in less than five rounds.
