Alvarez vs. Oosthuizen Coming In January

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the GYM Group, Yvon Michel, will confirm in the next days that the Montrealer Colombian Eleider Alvarez will face the South African Thomas Oosthuizen January 18th at Bell Centre, just before the presentation of the main event, which will oppose the Montrealers light heavyweights Jean Pascal (28-2-1) and Lucian Bute (31-1-0).

The winner of the fight Alvarez-Oosthuizen will become the interim WBA light heavyweight champion of the world, and will face the real WBA champion, Beibut Shumenov (13-1-0), from Kazakhstan, before the end of 2014.

At his last bout, September 28th at Bell Centre, Alvarez (13-0-0) beat the Colombian Edison Miranda (35-9-0) by unanimous decision in 10 rounds. November 9th in South Africa, Oosthuizen (22-0-2) had a lot of problems to dominate the Argentinian Ezequil Osvaldo Maderna (20-2-0), winning finally by majority decision of the judges.
