Alvarez Will Face Green In
Hartford

MONTRÉAL - The Colombian Eleider Alvarez, who is living in
Montréal since the beginning of his pro boxing career in
2009, was supposed to fight the American Allan Green last
Saturday at Bell Centre, just before the WBC light
heavyweight championship of the world won by the Montréaler
Adonis Stevenson (TKO in the first round against Chad
Dawson), but the bout has been cancelled 48 hours before the
show, when HBO has decided to add the fight the fight
Pedraza-Villenueva to the program.
Because the card was overloaded with the addition of the
bout Pedraza-Villenueva, the promoter Yvon Michel, of the
GYM, has been obliged to take out Alvarez from this Grand
Prix boxing show. This fight (10 rounds) between Alvarez
(12-0-0) and Green (32-4-0) has been rescheduled for July
5th, at the Connecticut Convention Centre of Hartford. NABA
and NABO North American light heavyweight champion, Alvarez,
who is ranked 4th by the WBA and 7th by the WBO, is hoping
to be involve in a WBA elimination bout by the end of the
year, and fight for a major world title in 2014.
