Lucian Bute:
"Pascal Is So Jealous Of My Popularity"

MONTRÉAL - Former WBC light heavyweight champion of the
world, Jean Pascal has frustrated a lot of Lucian Bute's
fans in the last three months, in saying publically that his
next opponent is overrated and burned in his head.
Pascal (28-2-1) and Bute (31-1-0), two Montrealers, two of
the three biggest names of the Canadian pro boxing (with
Adonis Stevenson), will fight in a 12 rounds bout January
18th at Bell Centre. The bout will be televise by HBO.
Pascal thinks seriously that Bute never overcome mentally
from his terrible lost against the British Carl Froch
(31-2-0).May 26th in Nottingham, England, Bute lost his IBF
super middleweight championship of the world after nine
successful defense of the title, losing by TKO in less than
five rounds to Froch.
However, Bute is persuaded that he back on the track now.
“It is very possible that Pascal is insulting me to play in
my head, to affect my concentration, but trust me, his
strategy will failed,” said Bute. “I sincerely believe that
Pascal is jealous of my popularity in Montréal. He knows
that most of the Quebec boxing fans are loving me, and
disliking him because his big mouth, his arrogance and lack
of respect his opponents.”
Some boxing fans in Montréal believes that the saga
Pascal-Bute will be like the Rocky saga: a fight… and a
rematch, another rematch and another rematch! “We have a
rematch clause in our contract, its true, but personally, I
believe that it will be an one shot deal,” said Bute. “Yes,
I think I will punish him so severely that the two promoters
of the event, Jean Bédard and Yvon Michel, will forget the
rematch.”
Pascal and Bute were supposed to fight May 25th, but in
April, Bute has been obliged to stop his training in
Florida, because a serious hand injury. In May, Bute got a
surgery to extract bone's fragments. Then, the fight has
been rescheduled for January 18th.Pascal is maintaining that
InterBox has invented the Bute's hand injury, to hide the
fact that Bute has seriously been hurt by a sparring partner

in Miami.
Many times, Pascal said: “Bute did not get a hand injury…
but a head injury.”
“Pascal is saying that InterBox has invented my injury, but
the truth is that Pascal has invented that story,” said
Bute. “Pascal is trying so hard to persuade me I am
finishing fighter, but he will have a hell of surprise when
the fight will start January 18th.”
ALCINE IS TRYING AGAIN
The former WBA super welterweight champion of the world, the
Montrealer Joachim Alcine, refuses to quit boxing. Alcine,
who lost his last four bouts, will fight again next month.
December 6th at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, in
California, Alcine (33-6-1) will face the Californian
Francisco Santana (17-3-1) in a 10 rounds bout.At his last
four presences in the ring, Alcine lost against the Mexican
Omar Chavez (31-2-1), the American Julian Williams (13-0-1),
the British Brian Rose (25-1-1), and the British Matthew
Macklin (29-5-0).Alcine lost by decision against Chavez and
Williams, and by TKO against Rose (12th round) and Macklin
(first round). The Montrealer did not win since December
2011, since his fight against the young Montréal
middleweight David Lemieux (30-2-0). Alcine beat Lemieux by
split decision.
