Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Jean Will Face Juan Jesus
Rivera
Instead Of Cosme Rivera
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL -The Montrealer Dierry Jean was supposed to fight
the Mexican Cosme Rivera Friday evening in the ring of the
Lake Leamy Casino. Finally, he will face a Rivera, but not
the same one. First contender of the WBC super lightweight
championship of the world, Jean (23-0-0) will defend his
NABF North American belt against Juan Jesus Rivera (25-9-0),
also from Mexico.
Juan Jesus Rivera will try to win a fourth fight in a row
against the fighter that Guy Jutras is considering as the
most beautiful natural talent in Canadian boxing. Jutras is
the WBA director for the Canadian territory, he is member of
the WBA officials and championship committees, and he has
been judge or referee for 80 world championships bouts from
1950 and 1990.
Cosme Rivera has been replaced because his problems to get a
Canadian Visa. “Juan Jesus Rivera is aggressive in the ring,
and he is a solid puncher, said the promoter Camille
Estefan. He will certainly help Dierry to be better prepared
for his eventual WBC world championship fight.”
Jean should fight for the WBC belt before the end of the
year, or at the beginning of 2014.
