Lemieux Will Fight Jose Miguel
Torres On Nov. 30

MONTRÉAL -The young Montrealer middleweight David Lemieux,
who wants to get back in the Top 10 in the world before the
end of the year, will fight the IBF 6th contender, the
Colombian Jose Miguel Torres, November 30th at the Québec
City Colisée.
Lemieux, who is ranked 12th contender by the WBO and 15th by
the IBF, was ranked third by the WBC in 2011 when he lost by
TKO (7th round) against the Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio
(58-6-1) in an elimination bout presented in Montréal.
The fight Lemieux-Torres will be presented before the two
world championship bouts televised by HBO. These two world
championship bouts will involve the WBC and the WBO light
heavyweight champions, the Montrealer Adonis Stevenson and
the Russian Sergey Kovalev.
Stevenson (22-1-0) will proceed to the second defense of his
WBC crown against his mandatory challenger, the British Tony
Bellew (20-1-1), and Kovalev (22-0-1) will risk his WBO
crown against the Ukrenian Ismayl Sillakh (21-1-0). Lemieux
was supposed to face Torres last February in Montréal, but
the fight has been cancelled in January, when the Montrealer
got a serious right hand injury in training.
Both are considered as solid punchers. Lemieux got 28 of his
30 wins (30-2-0) by KO or TKO, and Torres (27-5-0) won 24
times by KO or TKO. At his last bout, September 28th in
Montreal, just before the presentation of the WBC light
heavyweight championship bout opposing Stevenson to Tavoris
Cloud (Stevenson won by TKO at the end of the 7th round),
Lemieux won by unanimous decision against Marcus Upshaw
(15-11-2), an American southpaw of 6'3''.His goal is to
participate to a middleweight championship of the world
before the end of 2014.
