Yvon Michel Looking For New
Opponent For Eleider Alvarez

MONTRÉAL - Yvon Michel, the promoter of the GYM Group, is
tired to hunt down Allan Green. He has decided to put a X on
his name. Green, a veteran fighter from Tula, Oklahoma, was
supposed to fight the Montrealer Eleider Alvarez Friday
night in Hartford, Connecticut, but he cancelled the fight
Friday afternoon, because a food poisoning. Thursday at the
weigh in, Green showed up with six pounds over the limit of
the light heavyweight division (175 pounds).
“I tried three times to oppose Eleider to Green since a
year, and it never worked,” said Michel. “I will not try a
fourth time. Green showed a clear lack of being serious in
showing so heavy at the weight in Thursday. I am looking for
a new opponent for Eleider, who is at one victory to be
involved in a WBA or WBO elimination bout. We really believe
that Eleider will be world champion next year."
Alvarez (12-0-0), a Colombian living in Montréal since the
beginning of his pro boxing career (2009), is NABA and NABO
North American light heavyweight champion. He is ranked
fourth contender by the WBA and seven by the WBO. Green
(32-4-0), who fought Renan St-Juste and Sebastien Demers in
Canada, has been involved in the Showtime Super Six
tournament.
