  Cloutier’s Canada Corner

Continental Americas Title On Sept. 6

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The promoter Camille Estephan, who is also manager of three of the most important Canadians boxers, Bermane Stiverne, Dierry Jean and David Lemieux, confirmed that the Montréaler Ghislain Maduma will defend his WBC lightweight America's Continental title September 6th at the Lac Leamy Casino, in Gatineau, Québec.

“We can not confirm an opponent at this point, but we are in serious discussion with international fighters,” said Estephan Sunday morning. “No doubt in my mind that Ghislain will have a very solid opponent September 6th. He wants absolutely to be ranked soon in the Top 10 in the world.”

Maduma (14-0-0), who will be involved in the main event to the evening, is actually ranked 11th contender by the IBF, and 15th challenger for the WBC championship of the world. Estephan confirmed also that the Montrealers Schiller Hyppolite (7-1-0), a super middleweight, Baha Laham (12-0-1), a super featherweight, Michael Gadbois (9-0-1), a lightweight, and Mian Hussain (6-0-0), a super welterweight, will be involved in the preliminary bouts of the evening. The light heavyweight Andy Gardiner (8-0-0), from Ottawa, Ontario, should fight also on the undercard.
