The Pre-May Day boxing event at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas featured some excellent bouts leading into this weekend's Cinco de Mayo events as Antonio “Relentless” Orozco, of San Diego, CA, improved his professional boxing record to 17 – 0 (13 KO’s) with a very dominant performance over Jose Reynoso of Riverside, CA. Orozco ended the bout by delivering a left hook knockout punch to the body to conclude the bout at 1:15 in the 7th round.

From the opening ding of the bell, Orozco immediately pressured Reynoso, jabbing and letting loose right-hand power shots, followed by hooks. In the early rounds he compiled points by connecting a high percentage of power punches. Physically, Orozco appeared to overmatch Reynoso by continuous pressure, backing him to the ropes. Unable to be effective with counter punches, Orozco continued to control the rounds as his opponent appeared defenseless through the bout.

After Orozco had delivered a “relentless” amount of power punches, having drawn blood of his opponent from the nose and laceration to the head in the 5th round, he landed a left body shot flooring Reynoso to his knees for an 8 count. Courageously, Reynoso remained poised to conclude the round avoiding a TKO.

Joseph Diaz Jr., 4-0 (1 KO), local fighter of South El Monte, CA makes his 4th professional bout appearance only to defeat Eric Gotay – Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico by way of TKO with 2:15 in the 3rd round. Diaz, delivers a double 3 punch combo knocking Gotay to the canvas for an 8 count before the referee stopped the bout.

Junior Middleweights - 6 Rounds

Errol Spence Jr. of Dallas, TX, 5-0 (3 KO’s), wins by first round KO over Brandon Hoskins of Columbia, MO.

Junior Lightweights – 6 rounds

Carlos Velasquez, 15 – 0 (11 KO’s), originally from Puerto Rico, fighting out of Las Vegas, NV
wins by way of Unanimous Decision over Giorgi Mtchedlishvili, 8-5-1 (1 KO), of Miami, FL

Super Middleweights – 8 rounds

Unbeaten light heavyweight Anthony Dirrell (25-0, 21 KOs) outpointed Don Mouton (11-7-1, 9 KOs) over eight-rounds in a competitive fight. Scores were 78-74, 77-75, 77-75.

Heavyweights - 6 rounds

Olympian heavyweight Dominic Breazeale moved to 5-0, 5 KOs with a second round TKO over Lance Gauch (3-7-2, 3 KOs).

Breazeale dropped Gauch in round one and got a referee’s stoppage in round two.

Featherweights - 4 rounds

In the opening bout, featherweight Jose Gonzalez (4-0, 1 KO) outpointed Alex Chavez (1-1) over four.
