Pascal Should Fight In August

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The former WBC light heavyweight champion of the world, Jean Pascal, was mad and frustrated when he has been informed that his fight with Lucian Bute was postponed to the end of the year or the beginning of next year. Two weeks ago, Pascal (27-2-1) and Bute (31-1-0), two Montrealers, were working like hell in preparation of their fight scheduled for May 25th at Bell Centre in Montréal. Pascal was training in Las Vegas, Bute in Miami. May 7th, Bute stopped his training because serious pain in the left hand. Three days after, Bute, the former IBF super middleweight of the world, got a surgery to take out bone's fragments. Bute should restart his training at the end of the summer.

Tuesday, Pascal met his promoter, Yvon Michel, at the GYM Group head office, to discuss the possibility to fight this summer. Pascal knows now he will face Bute December 7th or January 25th (soon, HBO should pick one to these two dates). He does not want to stay inactive to that time. “There is a very good possibility that Jean could fight in August,” said Yvon Michel. I should be able to confirm something in the next weeks.”
