Stevenson: The WBC Revelation
Of The Year

MONTRÉAL - The members of the WBC championship committee
have voted in favor of the Montréal southpaw Adonis
Stevenson for the title of the WBC Revelation Of The Year.
Stevenson (23-1-0), the WBC light heavyweight champion of
the world, is the only fighter on the planet this year who
won three world championship bouts in a span of six months.
June 8th at Bell Centre in Montréal, Stevenson caused a
surprise in dethroning the veteran Chad Dawson (31-3-0) as
WBC light heavyweight champion of the world, in stopping him
in 76 seconds. It was the first time of his career that
Dawson was losing a fight so quickly. And Stevenson that
night was fighting in the 175 pounds division for the first
time.
Two months before his first win a world championship bout,
Stevenson was ranked mandatory challenger for the IBF super
middleweight championship of the world. September 28th,
again at Bell Centre, Stevenson became the first fighter to
stop Tavoris Cloud (24-2-0), the former IBF light
heavyweight champion of the world. Cloud, who never lost by
KO or TKO before that night, surrounded at the end of
the seventh round. He got very severe cuts around the two
eyes.
November 30th at the Québec City Colisée, Stevenson won a
third world champion bout in a span of six months, in
beating the British Tony Bellew (20-2-1) by TKO in the sixth
round. Like Cloud, Bellew never lost by KO or TKO before his
match up with Stevenson, who is considered as one of the
most destructive puncher pound for pound in the world.
