Stiverne vs. Klitschko Fight In

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - The WBC heavyweight champion of the
world, the Ukrenian Vitali Klitschko, has confirmed his
decision to face the Montrealer Bermane Stiverne this year.
Stiverne (23-1-1) beat the Californian Chris Arreola
(35-2-0) by unanimous decision last Saturday at the Citizens
Bank Arena in Ontario, California, in a decisive WBC
elimination bout for the world title.
Sunday morning, the Montréal promoter Camille Estephan, who
is also the manager of Stiverne, Dierry Jean, Antonin
Décarie and David Lemieux, called José Sulaiman, the WBC
president, to know the next step in the Stiverne's file.
“José Sulaiman told me he will contact Vitali Klitschko to
tell him he has to
fight Stiverne now,” said Estephan “Sunday. However, he does
not if Vitali wants to fight again. If not, the WBC
championship committee will vote to decide if Bermane
becomes the new WBC champion or if he will fight for an
eventual vacant title.”
Tuesday, Estephan got his answer: Klitschko has decided to
defend his title against the Montrealer. “Yes, I will face
Stiverne,” said Klitschko. “We will decide soon when and
where the fight will be organized.”
Klitschko (45-2-0), a boxer of 41 years old, has defended
successfully 12 times his WBC crown. At his last bout,
September 8th in Moscow, Klitschko stopped the German Manuel
Charr (21-1-0) in less than four rounds.
