By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The InterBox Group confirmed Thursday that Lucian Bute had a successful surgery in Miami. The Dr. Veronica Pedro has proceeded to this surgery in a Miami hospital. She took out several bone's fragments from his left hand. She said the surgery was successful. Bute will have the left hand in a cast by the end of the week.

Bute (31-1-0), the former IBF super middleweight champion of the world, has been obliged to stop his training Monday in Florida, because terrible pains in his left hand. Bute, a Montrealer, was preparing himself to face another Montrealer, Jean Pascal (27-2-1), May 25th at Bell Centre in Montréal, in a NABF light heavyweight championship that HBO was supposed to televise.

Pascal, on his side, is furious. “According some sources around the InterBox Group, Bute had constant pain in his left hand since his win against Glencoffe Johnson in Québec City in December 2011,” said Pascal. “When InterBox suggested to the GYM Group to organize this fight between Lucian and me last winter, never this specific information has been revealed to us. After months of training, suddenly, the information is revealed. It is unacceptable for me.”

Pascal, who does not want to stay inactive to the fall, has contacted the promoter of the GYM Group, Yvon Michel, to ask him to include him on the June 8th boxing show. That night, at Bell Centre, the Montrealer Adonis Stevenson (20-1-0) will try to dethrone the American Chad Dawson (31-2-0) as WBC light heavyweight champion of the world. Yvon Michel, who said his card is now completed for June 8th, is trying to find a solution for Pascal.
