QUÉBEC CITY, Canada - Welterweight Mikael Zewski is clearly impatient to face the best welterweights in the world. The fighter from Trois-Rivières, Québec, who is associated to Top Rank Inc. in Las Vegas, will be involved in a preliminary bout Saturday evening at the Québec City Colisée.

The four most important bouts of the evening will involved the Montrealer Adonis Stevenson, the Russian Sergey Kovalev, Kevin Bizier, from Québec City, and David Lemieux, from Montréal. It will be the biggest pro boxing show presented in Canada this year.

Stevenson (22-1-0) will defend his WBC light heavyweight championship of the world against his mandatory challenger, the British Tony Bellew (20-1-1), Kovalev will risk his WBO light heavyweight crown against the Ukrenian Ismayl Sillakh (21-1-0), Bizier (21-0-0), the NABA and IBF Inter-Continental welterweight champion, will face the Montrealer Jo Jo Dan (31-2-0) in an IBF elimination bout, and Lemieux (30-2-0), a young middleweight, will fight the Colombian Jose Miguel Torres (27-5-0). Lemieux and Torres are two powerful punchers. HBO will televise the fights Stevenson-Bellew, Kovalev-Sillakh and Bizier-Dan.

“Stevenson, Bizier and Lemieux are involved in three or the four most important bouts of the evening Saturday, and I really hope to live that situation in 2014,” said Zewski Tuesday afternoon after a public training session held at the Fleur de Lys shopping mall in Québec City. “Yes, I am crossing my fingers in hoping that 2014 will be a spectacular year for me. I want to be involved in a North American championship as soon as possible. It would be the perfect key to open me the door for the Top 10 ranking in the world. And when I will be in the Top 10, trust me, I will challenge the stars of the welterweight division. I know I have now the maturity to be in the boxing major leagues. When you are
really beliving in your potential, you want to fight the best. It s exactly what I am feeling now.”

Saturday, Zewski,(21-0-0) a boxer of 24 years old who won 11 of his last 12 bouts by KO or TKO, will face Ryan Lee Davis (24-11-3), a fighter of 35 years old coming from East Saint-Louis in Illinois. When a journalist asked him he was tired to be involved in apprenticeship bouts, Zewski said: “Listen, I hope to face soon the biggest names of the welterweight division, but in waiting impatiently that moment, I got to take all my fights very seriously. I am training intensively for each bout. I know that Davis is coming in Québec City with the intention to surprise me. And you know as me that a boxing fight can be win or lose with only one solid punch. A mistake or a lack of concentration could be very damageable for a young fighter in progression like me. I cannot afford a lost at this stage of my career, I am so close to the boxing major leagues, then, Saturday, I will fight with my usual determination, with the intention to get a clear win. I am supposed to fight at Bell Centre January 18th, the night of the fight Pascal-Bute, then, a perfect performance is extremely important Saturday evening.”

Bellew was suppose to participate to this public training session Tuesday, but he has decided to avoid the crowd, and trained secretly in a secret place. “We hope to see his face at the final press conference Wednesday,” said the promoter of the GYM Group, Yvon Michel.
