Andre Dirrell: "I Will Take
Care Of Edwards,
And Beat Froch A Second Time..."

QUÉBEC CITY - Andre Dirrell has one big dream in mind for
2015: face again the IBF super middleweight champion of the
world, the British Carl Froch (31-2-0).In 2009 in
Nottingham, in front of the Froch’s fans, Dirrell lost by
split decision against the IBF champion of the word.
According several journalists, it was a very controversial
decision. “I lost by split decision in the Carl Froch’s
backyard in 2009”, said Dirrell Wednesday in Québec City.
“It’s pretty simple to figure what’s happen over there. Yes,
everybody who is honest knows it was a pure local decision.
Everybody, excepting two of the three judges of the bout,
saw I was deserving to to be the winner. My big dream for
2015: face again Froch… et beat him again, to return in USA
with the IBF belt around my waist. I will take care of
Edwards Friday evening here in Quebec City, and Froch will
be unable to avoid me next spring or next summer. And if he
decides to take his retirement to avoid me, the IBF
championship committee will involved me automatically in a
vacant world bout. I know in my heart I am deserving to
detain this IBF 168 pounds belt world championship.”
Just before the WBC light heavyweight championship of the
world opposing the Montrealer southpaw Adonis Stevenson
(24-1-0) and the Russian Dmitry Sukhotsky (22-2-0) Friday
evening at the Quebec City Colisée, Dirrell (23-1-0), a
fighter from Flint, Michigan, will face Derek Edwards
(27-3-1), from Las Vegas, in an IBF super middleweight
elimination fight. The winner will be the Froch’s mandatory
challenger.
“I got an excellent training camp, and I am sure I will get
a great fight, a great performance Friday evening, said
Dirrell. I am very motivated, but this fight is a
springboard for another world title shot for me. I don’t
have to tell you it’s a crucial fight for me. Edwards is a
pretty solid puncher, then, I will have to fight
intelligently in defence, and use my speed and technique to
put him in trouble. I know I have the perfect strategy to
dominate the rounds and win the fight. If I dominated Carl
Froch in his own town in 2009, I can certainly dominate
Edwards in your town…”
Dirrell is favorite to win, but Edwards promised a big
surprise. “I know I have the weapons to surprise Dirrell,
said Edwards. Dirrell is good technically, he his pretty
fast, but I know I can put him in trouble in attacking him
constantly. It’s exactly what's i am planning to do. I am an
aggressive fighter, then, it will be natural for me to be
the aggressor in every round. I am a solid puncher, then, I
got to hurt him each time I will connect him with a power
shot. I got to give absolutely everything I have to win this
fight. It’s certainly the most significant fight of my
career. The winner, as you know, will be on line for an IBF
world title bout. I never got an opportunity to fight for a
world championship. I cannot waist that super opportunity.”
The promoter of the event, Yvon Michel, the boss of the GYM
group, is very excited to present that boxing show.
“Showtime will be more than satisfy to televise that boxing
show, said the promoter Yvon Michel, the boss of the GYM
Group. We have a WBC light heavyweight championship of the
world, between Adonis Stevenson and Dmitry Sukhotsky, and
two IBF elimination fights opposing Andre Dirrell to Derek
Edwards and Kevin Bizier to Jo Jo Dan. We are certainly
presenting one of the best boxing shows of the year in
Canada. Our three most important bouts of the evening will
be all intense and spectacular.”
Dirrell and Edwards won both their last bouts. Last October,
in Biloxi, Mississippi, Dirrell beat the New Yorker Nick
Brinson (16-3-2) by TKO in the fourth round, and Edwards
beat the Swedish Badou Jack (16-1-1) by TKO in the first
round last February in Verona, New York.
