Alcine Retires

MONTRÉAL - Former WBA super welterweight champion of the
world, the Montrealer Joachim Alcine confirmed Monday his
decision to take his retirement from boxing. Alcine will
take of his family for the years to come. A fighter of 39
years old, Alcine (35-8-2) had a lot of difficulties since
few years. He got a record of 3-7-2 at his last 12 bouts.
At his last bout, October 31st at the NRG Arena in Houston,
Alcine lost by TKO in the sixth round against the Texan
Jermell Charlo (27-0-0), who is ranked first contender by
the WBC and second by the IBF in the 154 pounds division.
After his defeat to Charlo, Alcine mentioned that he would
get a discussion about his future in boxing with his wife,
and if his spouse wanted absolutely that he stopped his
boxing career, he would do it.
