Manuel Avila Wins In 10; Diego DeLaHoya Wins In 8

From the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles California, Golden
Boy promotions hosted its 3rd boxing event of the year of
“LA Fight Club.” Headlining the night’s main event featured
undefeated featherweight from northern California Manuel
Avila of Fairfield versus Erik Ruiz of Ventura County
representing Oxnard, CA. Also, in an 8 round featherweight
bout co-main event featured rising star & superb skill boxer
Diego De La Hoya of Mexicali, Mexico.
In a very competitive, challenging and tactical bout Manuel
Avila remains undefeated as he wins in all 3 judges’
scorecards 100-93 in the main event bout defeating Erik
Ruiz. Thus, before being awarded the victory the bout went
the distance as he boxed fashionably utilizing the
dimensions of the ring and counter punching with excellent
focus in each round.
In concentration mode Manuel A. calmly began the bout
jabbing gauging his distance of his opponent and counter
punching as needed. Instantly it was notable when he wanted
to land the first punch he did so with impressive punching
speed. As the bout progressed into to the later rounds his
punches landed with precise timing as he picked his punches
to land connecting with multiple combinations and power
shots.
Although Erik Ruiz appeared to be the aggressor through the
bout stocking Manuel A. it had no persuasion in the judges’
decision. Ruiz would start the round aggressively throwing
the first punches and times connecting with good power shots
and left hooks. At no point through the bout did it slow or
affect Manuel Avila’s tactical boxing.
To conclude the bout Manual Avila closed the last 3 rounds
in fashion letting loose of his hands firing away power
punches landing effectively. Including fighting the 10th
round single handedly via jab combinations reserving his
right hand punch to convince the judges he was the winner in
tonight’s main event. Rightfully the 3 judges awarded him
the win in all 10 rounds and the bout improving his
professional boxing record to 17-0 (7 KOs).
The co-main event that featured Diego De La Hoya against
steel-chin warrior opponent Ramiro Robles of Guanajuato
Mexico also a bout that went the distance of 8 rounds. After
the ringing of the bell in round 1, fast hands
sharp-shooting Diego DLH wasted no time imposing his will on
his opponent unleashing punches-in-bunches as a memo this
was his night. Every jab, hard punch to the body and
upstairs landed and in some instances snapping his opponents
head back causing him to look to the ceiling of the Belasco
theatre. For a moment many fans and I believed this fights
would end in round 1, or perhaps #2.
Diego DLH connected with every punch in his arsenal as the
fans cheered him anticipating an early KO and was
unsuccessful. Rather, realizing he was taking a beat down
Ramiro R. suddenly posed resistance and ferociously began to
swing away in defense posing resistance to avoid a KO
remaining combative. Such display of warrior mentality
ignited the fans in excitement witnessing a counter attack
by Ramiro indicating the bout was not over yet.
Nonetheless, Diego DLH was just too good of a skillful and
elusive boxer Ramiro was unable to land effective punches.
Despite the arsenal array of power punches fired by Diego
DLH, Ramiro continued to walk forward not letting up making
attempts to punch Diego’s body in efforts to slow him down
but was unsuccessful. Diego never appeared to affected by
his opponents punches as he dominated all 8 rounds.
Although, Ramiro gave it his all displaying a warrior’s
heart it wasn’t enough to score a win in any of the rounds.
Diego DLH is the winner via all 3 judges’ scorecard in a
unanimous decision of 80-73.
TV Bout Super Bantamweights 6 Rounds
Oscar Negrete representing Paramount, CA defeats Luis
Maldonado Jr. of Calexico, CA with 00:22 seconds into the
5th round via technical decision. After the Dr. examined the
head of Maldonada following a second accidental head bunt
through the match it was severe enough for the referee to
wave off the bout. Nonetheless, through 5 rounds the judges’
scorecard was the following: 1x – 50-46; 2x – 50-45.
4 Round Featherweight Bout
Local fighter of Los Angeles, CA Nick Arce convincingly wins
the bout as it is stopped by the referee 58 seconds into the
2nd round. Arce landed a hard punch causing his opponent to
lose his mouth piece it then the referee waves the bout off
because at this point the he had seen enough pounding
sustained by Marco Alcaraz of Greenville, Tx. In round 1,
Arce immediately scored a knockdown in less than 10 seconds
and second one in the last 15 seconds of the of the round as
his opponent was saved by the bell in the count down. Nick
Arce improves to his professional boxing record to 3-0.
