Bizier vs. Brook In
Preparations;
Yvon Michel &
Ed Hearn Will Negotiate This Week-End

QUÉBEC CITY, Canada - An IBF welterweight championship of
the world between Kevin Bizier and Kell Brook is in
preparation, according the promoter of the GYM Group, Yvon
Michel. Bizier (25-2-0), a fighter from Québec City, became
mandatory challenger for this world title November 7th at
the Miccosukee Indian Resort of Miami, in beating the
Fredrick Lawson (24-1-0), from Ghana, by TKO at the end of
the 10th round in an IBF elimination fight.
“We have been informed that Brook is ready to face his
mandatory challenger at his next fight, mentioned Yvon
Michel. Then, a bout Bizier-Brook is really in preparation.
There are a strong possibility that this world championship
fight would be presented next spring at the new Videotron
Centre in Québec City. The Brook’s promoter, Eddie Hearn,
will be in Québec City this week-end, to assist to the fight
Bute-DeGale, and we will start negotiations to decide the
date of the Bizier-Brook’s fight. No doubt that Kevin
deserves to get a first chance for a world title. He got a
splendid performance against Lawson in Miami in this IBF
elimination fight. Kevin made great progress technically in
the last months, then, he is certainly prepared for a word
title fight.”
Brook became IBF 147 pounds world champion in 2014 in
Carson, California, with a win by majority decision over
Shawn Porter (26-1-1), from Las Vegas. Brook made the first
defense of his title against the Montrealer Jo Jo Dan, who
won an elimination bout against Bizier (split decision) in
Québec City in December 2014.
In March 2015 in Sheffield, England, Brook beat Jo Jo Dan, a
Montrealer Romanian southpaw, by TKO in less than four
rounds. “Brook beat Jo Jo Dan easily last spring, but I am
positive he will have a lot of more trouble with me, said
Bizier. It’s a simple question of styles. No doubt in my
mind, I have the weapons and the style to surprise Brook. I
know he is a good fighter, I know he is very strong
physically, but I am strong physically myself, and I have
the technique to compete him for 12 rounds. The boxing fans
and boxing writers who saw me in action against Lawson in
November, will certainly understand what I mean. It would be
fantastic if this bout would be in front of my fans, in
Québec City. We will see how gonna work the negotiations
between my promoter (Yvon Michel) and the Brook’s promoter
(Eddie Hearn). I am so enthusiast to know that I will be
involved in the first world championship of my career this
year.”
