Bute Could Get A Chance To Take
Back
His Former IBF Super Middleweight Title

MONTRÉAL - The InterBox Group and the GYM Group, from
Montréal, are negotiating seriously to organize an IBF super
middleweight championship of the world between the
Montrealer Romanian Lucian Bute and the British James DeGale.
The bout would be presented November 14th at the new Québec
City Colisée. DeGale (22-1-1) is the new IBF 168 pounds
world champion, and Bute held this belt between 2007 and
2012.
Bute (32-2-0) won 10 IBF super middleweight world
championships fights in a row between 2007 and 2012, but in
May 2012, he lost his title in Nottingham, England. The
British Carl Froch (33-2-0) beat him by TKO in less than
five rounds. After his first lost in pro boxing, Bute got
serious problems at his two following bouts. He won a «so
and so« win by decision over the Russian Denis Grachev
(13-5-1), in November 2012 at Bell Centre, and he lost by
unanimous decision against the Montrealer Jean Pascal
(30-3-1) in a NABF light heavyweight North American
championship presented January 18th 2014, again at Bell
Centre.
After 18 months out of the ring, Bute made a successful
comeback few months ago. August 18th at Bell Centre, he beat
the Italian Andrea De Luisa (17-3-0) by TKO in less than
four rounds.
Last April, Bute joined the Grant’s team at the Monster GYM
in Dorval, in the West Island of Montréal. The Montrealers
trainers Howard and Otis Grant transformed him totally. Bute
found back his motivation, determination and confidence.
Against De Luisa, Bute got by far his best performance in
three years.
May 23rd in Boston, DeGale won the vacant IBF super
middleweight championship of the world in beating the
American Andre Dirrell (24-2-0) by unanimous decision.
