Cruz Captures NABA Title By
Outworking Cota In Kissimmee

Kissimmee, Florida – In front of a sold out crowd at the
Kissimmee Civic Center presented by All Star Boxing, Inc.
Featherweight Orlando “EL Fenomeno” Cruz (22-4-1, 11 KO’s)
from San Juan, PR. defeated Gabino “Flash” Cota (18-5-1, 16
KO’s) from Navajoa, Sonora, MX. By ways of a unanimous
decision victory winning the vacant (WBO) NABO Featherweight
title. Cruz slowly walked down Cota early on with a higher
level of boxing skill not committing to the slower Cota bait
to war in the center of the ring, Cruz established himself
with the quicker hands and feet his offence had higher
success scoring points frustrating Cota who made a effort
with picking it up late in the fight by attacking Cruz in
the corner gassed himself as Cruz jumped in and out throwing
hooks and upper cuts keeping Cota’s fight effort behind all
night. The three judges scores 97-93,96-94,99-91 all for
Cruz.
ROMAN DEFEATS MELENDEZ
Tough Super Bantamweight Alex Roman (3-1) fights in-front of
his home crowed dedicating his fight to fight cancer by
defeating Eduardo Melendez (5-16, 1 KO) from Santa Isabel,
PR. by unanimous decision victory. Roman with an inspiring
performance showed good power by slugging Melendez who
needed a second wind by round two. Melendez was certainly
distracted by Roman’s speed and movement, Roman glued his
punches right to Melendez face making it a good night for
the tough young Roman.
DEJESUS CRUSHES RIVERA
Puerto Rican rising star Welterweight Emmanuel Dejesus from
Canovanas, PR. goes to (16-0, 11 KO’s) after a impressive
fight display of aggression and attack that was just too
much for veteran Cosme “Chino” Rivera (38-22-3, 26 KO’s)
ending his night by TKO in the 4th round.
Dejesus made it a tough fight for the tough Rivera who
lacked in his timing countering with the heavy puncher
Dejesus who established himself nailing Rivera with hard
hooks to the face making the fight notable for the boxing
fans on hand, Dejesus end it in dramatic fashion as the
screaming crowed at the Kissimmee Civic Center erupted after
the stoppage.
SANTOS BLASTS VERA
The hard hitting Featherweight Joshua Santos (2-0-1, 2 KO’s)
from Vega Baja, PR. continues to impress by jumping right in
landing hard shots sending Jason Vera (1-4) from Miami,
Florida. down ending the contest quickly at :32 seconds of
round one by TKO victory for Santos.
Santos to me top honors for this rising star that continues
to impress not giving Vera any opportunities as he displayed
the look of brutal face, Santos took the invitation to nail
Vera and end his night.
SANTOS POUNDS SILVERIO
Puerto Rican Welterweight Julio “El Indio” Santos (2-2, 1
KO’s) from Villaeba, PR. fought inside giving Euris Silverio
(0-1) from Kissimmee, FL. too much to handle beating him by
unanimous decision victory.
Santos a skill set young fighter was not hotly tested in
four rounds were he did clearly most of the damage by
fighting aggressively blazing right through Silverio
stretching him showing his power was just too much for
Silverio tonight.
NAVARRO SHINES IN DEBUT
In his professional debut Jr. Welterweight Cupelian Navarro
(1-0) from Miami, FL. out classes Kevin Walker (0-2) from
Cleveland, OH. In a 4 round unanimous decision victory at
the Kissimmee Civic Center last night Navarro roared out his
corner showing he was ready for his first dance, made a
fight crushing Walker with counters it was clear Walker was
in trouble and couldn’t handle Navarro’s attack keeping the
contest one-sided.
DAROCHA DESTROYED LOUIS
Super Middleweight Victor DaROCHA (2-0, KO’s) from Miami,
Florida put his punches together as Fadoul Louis (3-2-2, 1
KO) from Melbourne, Florida couldn't get into the fight,
Referee Emil Lombardi seen enough contest was stopped at the
3rd round via TKO victory for DaROCHA.
ALVAREZ RIPS BUTLER UP IN UD VICTORY
Heavyweight 27 yr old Edwin Alvarez (6-0, 4 KO’s) from
Miami, Florida quickly out boxed and out pointed Jerry “Big
Daddy” Butler (9-13-1, 9 KO’s) from the Bahamas in a one
sided unanimous decision victory. Alvarez demolition in four
rounds of Butler capped a great night of work for Alvarez
acquiring Butler to pay the price in his exchange loosing
every round as Alvarez set the tone for the win.
