Marc Ramsay: "Lemieux Was Not
Bad,
It's Golovkin Who Was Almost Perfect"

MONTRÉAL - Marc Ramsay, the trainer who transformed totally
David Lemieux in the last four years, the trainer who helped
Lemieux to become IBF middleweight champion of the world
last June, is not frustrated or discouraged at all by the
fact of his fighter lost Saturday evening in the ring of the
Madison Square Garden in New York.
June 20th at Bell Centre in Montréal, Lemieux (34-3-0) won
the vacant IBF 160 pounds world title, in beating the French
African Hassan N’Dam N’jikam (31-2-0) by unanimous decision
in 12 rounds. Lemieux provoked four knockdowns in that bout.
Few weeks after, the Lemieux’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya,
the big boss of the Golden Boy Promotions organization in
Los Angeles, finalized a deal with K-2 Promotions, to
organized an unification world titles bout with Gennady
Golovkin, the fighter from Kazakhstan who was WBA and WBC
interim middleweight champion of the world.
Last Saturday, Golovkin dominated all the rounds against
Lemieux, and won the fight by TKO in the eight rounds.
Golovkin got out of the ring with the statute of IBF, WBA
and WBC interim middleweight champion of the world.
Ranked fourth best fighter pound for pound in the world,
Golovkin (34-0-0) has been involved in 15 world
championships bouts, and he won all by KO or TKO.
“David was not bad at all Saturday in the ring, but why can
I do, Golovkin, him, who was almost perfect, said Ramsay.
Golovkin used brilliantly his jab, and after each jab or
series of jabs, he was moving perfectly from the right and
left sides in the ring, to prevent David to place his power
shots. The Golovkin’s strategy was fabulous. No doubt in my
mind that Golovkin is one of the best fighter on the
planet.”
What’s next for Lemieux?
“David will take a rest, and after, he will probably dispute
two tune up fights, said Ramsay. Before the end of 2016, I
am positive David will be involved in another world
championship fight. He still young (26 years old), he still
a very talented fighter, and still one of the best puncher
pound for pound in the world. Obviously, I was very
disappointed after the bout Saturday at Madison Square
Garden, and I am not discouraged at all. David and me will
work very hard in 2016, like we did in the previous four
years, and the success will certainly be back for us.”
