Joet Gonzalez Looks To Remain
Undefeated

Tonight at The Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles Golden Boy
Promotions is putting on another stellar card for Southern
California boxing fans. One fight featured tonight will be a
battle of undefeated bantamweights Joet Gonzalez (11-0,5
KO's) vs. Marcos Rios (12-0-1, 8 KO's). This eight round
scrap promises to be a real crowd pleaser.
For Joet Gonzalez this fight is pretty easy to explain. “I
am fighting Marcos Rios from San Diego”, said Joet, “He is
undefeated at 12-0-1 and he is going to come in tough and
strong. We are both undefeated and neither one of us wants
to lose our “0”, that’s going to make it a great fight.”
One intangible on the side of Gonzalez is his manager Frank
Espinoza who happens to be one of the premier managers in
boxing. Espinoza has led a bevy of smaller weight fighters
to the top. Gonzalez knows a manager the likes of Espinoza
is huge. Joet shared, “Me and Frank have a great
relationship, he is one of the best managers in the
business. He knows exactly what he is doing and I trust him
100%. Before we signed with Frank We discussed our plan with
him and he told us what his plan was and we were pretty much
on the same page. We are doing very well at this point in
our career and we are looking for a world title down the
road. Hopefully we can get one here and them move up to the
next weight class and get one there as well.”
Though Gonzalez career is young he has ventured to many
different venues to display his wares and he is knows this
can only help as his career progresses. Gonzalez stated,
“Going to different places is helping grow my fan days and
eventually, like you say, I am going to have to go into
someone’s backyard, like I did in the amateurs. I plan on
being victorious when I do and that will get me farther in
my career with all the more experience.”
But tonight Joet will be fighting only a couple of freeway
interchanges away from his Glendorta CA home. The house
should have a good amount of his fans cheering him on. That
is something that can be more of a burden to a young fighter
than a help. Gonzalez spoke about those hometown butterflies
saying, “At first I was a little nervous the first time I
fought, there was a lot of people there to support me and
because the Belasco is a small venue they were veryclose to
the ring. I could hear everything but I stayed focused. I
just paid attention to my corner, I didn’t even look at the
crowd. I had tunnel vision and I was ready for my fight.
Yes, I was a little nervous at first, but once that bell
rings and punches start flying…well...all that goes away.”
No doubt the punches will be flying tonight as Gonzalez
looks to keep his undefeated record against a fighter with
the same aspirations. That’s a recipe for some great action
for the fans.
The main event will feature Martin Honorio vs. Miguel Angel
Huerta in a 10-round super lightweight bout presented by
Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Corona Extra. Doors
open at 5:00 p.m. and the first bout begins at 5:30 p.m. The
Estrella TV Boxeo Estelar broadcast will air live on Friday,
November 6 at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT., and will also be
simultaneously streaming live on estrellaTV.com and on
YouTube via Fenomeno Studios: youtube.com/FenomenoStudios.
The Ring TV live stream will begin at approximately 5:30
p.m. PT through 7:00 p.m.
