The Gym Group Will Organize A
New Series Of Boxing Shows At The Montreal Casino Ballroom

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the GYM group, the Montrealer
Yvon Michel, confirmed Thursday morning that his
organization will present a series of boxing shows at the
Montréal Casino in 2016. The GYM Group organized several
boxing shows at the Montréal Casino ballroom between 2005 to
2010, but the series stopped at the end of 2010, because the
Québec Government, owner of the Casino, has decided at that
moment to invest few millions$ to make renovations in this
ballroom. Now, the place, totally modernized, can be a
perfect site for music concerts and boxing shows.
“Between 2004 and 2010, we were using particularly our young
boxers at Montreal Casino Ballroom, our prospects, what we
could call the members of the Canadian boxing relieve, and
we will maintain this policy in 2016, said Yvon Michel. Our
future stars, like Custio Clayton (5-0-0), Erik Bazinyan
(10-0-0) and Vislan Dalkaev (4-0-0), will have the chance to
progress in our 2016 series.”
The first three shows the GYM Group will present in 2016 at
the Casino ballroom will be January 21st, March 17th and May
12th. Clayton, a super welterweight, Bazinyan, a super
middleweight, and Dalkaev a super bantamweight, will be in
action in these three first shows next year.
“Our first series helped a lot our fighters to progress in
the Canadian and North American ratings, said Bernard Barré.
We did 45 shows between 2004 and 2010, most of them focusing
on our prospects, but we did also three North Americans
championships and an IBF elimination bout between Otis Grant
and Librado Andrade, a fight which gave the chance to the
winner to face Lucian Bute in an IBF super middleweight
championship fight of the world (Andrade won this
elimination fight, but lost against Bute). Clayton will
certainly be ranked in the world in few years, and I will be
surprised if he is not involved in a world championship
fight. Bazinyan and Dalkaev are also very promising
fighters. Both are very determinate, always in good shape,
good technically and solid punchers. Most of the 45 shows we
organized between 2004 to 2010 were televised locally, and
it’s very possible that our new series will be televised
also. We should be able to confirm something about the TV
before the end of the year.
BUTLER AND HYPPOLITE AT METROPOLIS
The big boss of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group, the
Montrealer promoter-manager Camille Estephan will present
his last boxing show of the year Friday evening at the
Metropolis Centre in downtown of Montréal.
The two most important bouts of the evening will involved
the Montrealers Schiller Hyppolite and Steven Butler.
Ranked eighth contender by the WBC in the super middleweight
division, Hyppolite (17-1-0) will face Cedric Bellais
(18-6-3), from Tahiti, in a bout of eight rounds, and Butler
(12-0-1) will be opposed to Teemu Tuominen (10-1-0), from
Finland, in 10 rounders.
Just before the semi-final bout, the super lightweight
Michael Gadbois (14-0-3), from Saint-Hyacinthe (an Eastern
Montréal suburb), will fight Jesus Singwancha (20-9-0), from
the Republic of Congo, in an eight rounders.
The Montrealer super lightweight Ghislain Maduma (17-2-0)
will meet the Mexican Juan Jesus Rivera (27-13-0), also in
an eight rounders.
The others fights will involved the heavyweight Simon Kean
(1-0-0), from Trois-Rivières, Québec, the Montrealer super
middleweight Louisbert Atidor (1-0-0), the Montrealer super
lightweight Ayaz Hussain (7-0-0), the super lightweight
Mathieu Germain (4-0-0), also from Montréal, and the New
Yorker lightweight Will Madera (6-0-0).
Kean will fight Alex Nicholson (1-0-0), from Miami, Atidor
will face Michel Tsalla (1-10-2), from Montréal, Hussain
will meet Daniel Attah (28-20-1), from Washington, Germain
will be opposed to the Mexican Oscar Barajas (10-1-0), and
finally, Madera will fight the Mexican Abraham Gomez
(22-10-1).
